Project overview

The Spring Gardens Car Park project introduced new public electric vehicle charging infrastructure in central Tewkesbury. Delivered for Evolt (Swarco), the installation forms the first phase of a wider programme supporting Gloucestershire County Council's transition to cleaner transport across council-owned locations.

The work covered the complete project lifecycle, from feasibility, planning and technical design through the DNO interface and grid connection process. Equipment procurement, construction and electrical installation were coordinated to minimise disruption within the operational town-centre car park.

Two 22 kW dual-socket charging units provide four charging points in total. The arrangement serves public users while also allocating dedicated bays for council fleet vehicles, helping to support both local EV adoption and the authority's fleet electrification plans.

Testing, commissioning and handover completed the installation in January 2025, leaving a reliable and future-ready charging facility that contributes to lower transport emissions and improved access to EV infrastructure in Tewkesbury.
